Whoisgreen is an inclusive and open database, inviting businesses to create a Whoisgreen business profile for self-promotion, and to learn what similar businesses are doing to Go-Green within their category and local community. Establishing Green Credentials by Going-Green is a journey and requires business to transition through Seven Stages of Sustainability in a quest to drive success and win new opportunities. As businesses integrate higher levels of efficiency and resource productivity into their business environments, including an option for mature businesses to display their external certification details via the Whoisgreen 4th Green Star (view acceptable certification types), brands can establish integrity within marketing campaigns which typically translate into customer confidence and loyalty. And to demonstrate our support for small business who typically do not have budgets for external certification, the 1st & 2nd Green Recognition Stars focus on initiatives that reduce costs.
The idea for Whoisgreen.com originated from the process that the founder David Burns experienced during the design and construction of his sustainable family home, located on the Northern Beaches of Sydney Australia in 2005. David's family home has been featured in magazines and TV for the many green initiatives adopted to address design efficiency, energy, water, materials, biodiversity, and performance monitoring. However, the research required to decide on the final specification was a difficult process and in many cases, decisions had to be made without access to information or product availability. Whoisgreen.com was created to help solve this problem as the world gets bigger.
Green Credentials help consumers make informed decisions and match the level of green integration desired within a product or service. Industrial Ecology and Green Chemistry are David's other passions, and he is actively involved in a green-field Industrial Ecology development in his home country of Australia to demonstrate that efficiency and design is what makes businesses successful.
